Top Ten Western Movie
Bonanza Town (Full Frame) Into a dusty, lawless town, atop his trusty white steed, rides the heroic masked crusader, out to restore justice to the Wild West. Legendary screen cowboy Charles Starrett returns as The Durango Kid, teaming up once again with his singing comic sidekick Smiley Burnette in this fast-paced, rootin' tootin' Western. Steve Ramsey, The Durango Kid's alter ego, is hired by the Treasury Department to locate $30,000 stolen from a Dodge City hold-up. A trail of marked money leads him to "Bonanza Town," where he tracks down black-hearted outlaw Henry Hardison, working in cahoots with crooked town boss Krag Boseman. The Durango Kid heads up a posse to expose the corruption and rid "Bonanza Town" of the murderous vigilantes. Starrett made the Durango Kid one of the most enduring and popular of all western series heroes and was among the top ten Western stars until his retirement in 1952.
Desperadoes, The (Full Frame) Western legend Randolph Scott stars with Glenn Ford ("Gilda," "Superman") in this highly entertaining Wild West drama spiked with comedy and featuring an outstanding cast of supporting players. Into Sheriff Steve Upton's (Scott) peaceful Utah town rides outlaw Cheyenne Rodgers (Ford) with trouble right behind him. When he finds romance with Evelyn Keyes ("Gone With The Wind") and renews an old friendship with the sheriff, he's determined to turn his back on his old, lawless ways. But when the local bank is robbed, all fingers point to the innocent Rodgers. His former gang is responsible for the crime, but they see to it that he's convicted. Sheriff Upton helps his buddy escape from jail and together they bring the true culprits to justice. "The Desperadoes" is a lively adventure featuring an all-star cast, including Edgar Buchanan ("Shane," TV's "Petticoat Junction") and Claire Trevor ("Key Largo").
