John Wayne Westerns
Best Of John Wayne, Vol. 1 & 2, The (Full Frame) Collections includes "The Best Of John Wayne, Vol. 1" and "The Best Of John Wayne, Vol. 2. "The Best Of John Wayne, Vol.1" - "John Wayne: American Hero Of The Movies" - This exciting documentary of rare movie previews features The Duke - Hollywood's toughest, two-fisted, no-nonsense star - in the most action-packed, adventure-filled scenes from two dozen of his most famous films. "The Dawn Rider" - John Wayne hits the vengeance trail after the bandits who shot his father in this 1935 film from Robert N. Bradbury, who directed most of the Duke's many early Lone Star Westerns ("Texas Terror," "The Trail Beyond"). "Texas Terror" - In this early effort, John Wayne appears with frequent co-star George "Gabby" Hayes, and plays a lawman stricken with grief because he believes he was responsible for the death of his friend while chasing bandits. "The Trail Beyond" - Agreeing to track down a friend's missing brother and niece, John and Marie Ball, the Duke heads north with the law in hot pursuit after his pal Noah Beery, Jr. ("The Rockford Files") is framed for murder along the way. "The Best Of John Wayne, Vol.2" - "McLintock!" - John Wayne appears with one of his favorite leading ladies, Maureen O'Hara ("Rio Grande," "The Quiet Man"), in this Westernized version of "The Taming Of The Shrew," produced by Wayne's son, Michael. "The Star Packer" - Cattlemen are being terrorized and shot by a ruthless bunch of desperados led by the Shadow, using a tunnel under the main street - with a phony tree stump as an exit - to carry out their dastardly deeds. "The Hurricane Express" - Oscar winner John Wayne ("True Grit") stars as pilot Larry Baker, who makes an unscheduled landing in a vain attempt to prevent a railway collision that kills his father, and is fired for disobeying orders.
John Wayne Gift Set "El Dorado" - Legendary producer-director Howard Hawks teams with two equally legendary stars, John Wayne and Robert Mitchum, in this classic Western drama. Mitchum plays to perfection an alcoholic but gutsy sheriff who relentlessly battles the dark side of the wild West, ruthless cattle barons and crooked "businessmen." The Duke gives an equally adept performance as the sheriff's old friend who knows his way around a gunfight. Filled with brawling action and humor, "El Dorado" delivers the goods. James Caan and Ed Asner co-star. "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance" - Ranking with Stagecoach as one of the greatest of its genre, "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance" is the modern-day Western to beat all Westerns. John Ford, whose very name is synonymous with "Westerns," directed the ideal cast. Jimmy Stewart plays the bungling but charming big-city lawyer determined to rid the fair village of Shinbone of its number one nuisance and Bad Man: Liberty Valance (Lee Marvin). And as if all that weren't enough, the biggest star that ever aimed a six-shooter plays the Man of the title: John Wayne. Super-sincere Stewart and rugged rancher Wayne also share the same love interest (Vera Miles). One gets the gunman but the other gets the gal. "The Shootist" - Afflicted with a terminal illness, John Bernard Brooks (John Wayne), the last of the legendary gunfighters, quietly returns to Carson City for medical attention from his old friend Dr. Hostetler (James Stewart). Aware that his days are numbered, the troubled man seeks solace and peace in a boarding house run by a widow (Lauren Bacall) and her son (Ron Howard). However, it is not Brook's fate to die in peace, as he becomes embroiled in one last valiant battle. "The Sons Of Katie Elder" - Katie Elder bore four sons. The day she is buried they all return home to Clearwater, Texas, to pay their last respects. John Wayne is the eldest and toughest son, the gunslinger.
John Wayne Airport - John Wayne Airport is located in Orange County, California, between the cities of Santa Ana, Newport Beach, Costa Mesa, and Irvine. Originally named Orange County Airport, the county Board of Supervisors renamed it in 1979 to honor the actor John Wayne. John Wayne Gacy - John Wayne Gacy, Jr., (March 17, 1942 – May 10, 1994) was an American serial killer. John Wayne Glover - John Wayne Glover (1932-September 9, 2005) was a serial killer responsible for the North Shore Granny Murders in Australia. He was nicknamed "The Granny Killer" for his trademark murders that involved attacking older woman by beating them on the head with a hammer until they collapsed, then finishing the job by strangling them with their underwear. Je t'aime John Wayne - Je t'aime John Wayne (2000) is a ten minute short film parody about an English guy pretending to be Jean Paul Belmondo in the film Breathless, who in turn was pretending to be Humphrey Bogart. It was distributed on the DVD Cinema 16: British Short Films.
